Important things to know about hockey:
Uniform
Club colours - green and black, white trim.
The club will provide a playing shirt and jacket which must be returned at the end of the season.
Black shorts, black skort or black leggings may be worn.
Socks - black with 2 white stripes at the top.
A polypro top or Skins can be worn under the playing shirt, preferably black or white.
Gloves are recommended for very cold days.
Hockey Sticks
Choose a stick that comes up to the child's belly button. A little too short is better than too long.
A wooden stick is best for new players to get the feel of the ball. Good sticks are available for $20-$30 from Just Hockey, GoHockey or sports stores.
Shin Guards
These are compulsory. Any kind of shin guards will be fine - hockey or footbal - but ones with ankle protection are recommended.
Mouth Guard
Absolutely compulsory. The most important thing is for it to be properly moulded so that it will stay in the mouth during play. Available from Clive's Chemist from around $5.
Draws and Rules
These are available on PlayHQ.

Cancellations
Hockey is virtually never cancelled.
Your coach will contact you if the game is cancelled or you can check for cancellation notices on Wellington Hockey's website or their facebook page.
