Gara Manzi Synchronised Swimming Club

Gara Manzi club was set up in 2011.  We had a total of three swimmers Chelsea, Madison Ford and Abby Hustler.  The girls all wanted to continue with Synchronised Swimming but due to water polo committments could not do Synchronised Swimming full time.

All three girls had previously represented NZ for Synchronised Swimming at the 2008 Oceania Championships.  Chelsea Ford has also representated NZ for Waterpolo.

The girls had fun making up their own rountine which was duet. Kim became the Team Manager and Vicki the Coach in name only as the girls where all to good for me!!!!!    At the 2011 Synchronised Swimming Nationals in Hamilton the Girls gain 1st place in the Aquanaut Section of the Competition.  Chelsea and Madison Ford won the Title of top Duet for the NZ Secondary Schools for Rangitoto College.  We also won the Club Spirit Club for our fantastic team spirit and get up and go personalities.

In 2012 we welcomed Victoria Hohaia into our fold and the girls swam a comibination of Trio and Duets at NZ Spring National Championships in Invercargill.  We were had a very sucessful championships with a 2nd Place for our Trio of Abby, Chelsea and Madison.  In the Junior Duet we gained a second place this was swum by Victoria and Abby.

After this success we all thought we would travel back to Auckland and start to recruit new swimmers into our new club.  Then in November 2012 all the  girls were select to join the Phoenix Club Combo which had qualified to go to the Fina World Championships in Barcelona, Spain in 2013 to represent New Zealand.  One condition of accepting this selection was that the girls would have to join the New Zealand training squad in Invercargill.  Victoria and Abby decided that they would go to Invercargill.
