My name is Victoria Hohaia and I live in Auckland. I am 19 years old and I am passionate about the sport of synchronised swimming.

I have been doing synchronised swimming since I was the age of 8. I was inspired to begin synchro after watching it on the TV during the 2004 Olympics. I loved the way the girls danced in the water and did cool tricks and thought, "this sport suits a fish like me!"

What I like most about synchro is that it is a competitive sport involving artistic choreography, challenging movements, teamwork and the water.

My greatest highlights of synchro would have to be being a member of the NZ Aquaferns team that competed in the 2013 Barcelona Fina World Championships and the 2015 Kazan Fina World Championships. To do this I had to leave family, friends and home to live in Invercargill/Tauranga for 6 months to train 37+ hours a week with the team. This move was so worthwhile because I had such an absolutely amazing experience, making new friends and competing alongside the greatest teams in this sport on the world stage.
