The Saints Softball Club has been in existence since the 1950’s. The club has always been Lower Hutt based and was originally formed from a Latter Day Saints group which is where the name “Saints” came from. From the beginning, families have been a force in the club and remain so to this day.

Over the decades the Saints Softball Club has provided the opportunity for women and children to play softball.  The club remains one of the few “female focused” clubs in New Zealand and it continues to thrive in today’s challenging environment.

Saints has a very proud history of achievement with many players going onto national representation at youth and senior level. There have been seven New Zealand captains in the club. Naomi Shaw who is a current club member is the only NZ captain to win a World Championship gold medal in 1982 in Taiwan.

We strongly promote local softball by conducting two annual tournaments catering for our Premier Women and emerging Under 19 / Premier Two Women. Both tournaments attract the top teams in the Hutt Valley and Wellington along with visiting teams from other parts of the country. On previous occasions we have hosted the Australian Women’s National Team, Lady Hearts Team from Illinois, USA and Sonoda Women’s University Team from Osaka, Japan. We have also hosted players within our club teams from the Czech Republic, Australia, Canada and USA.

To help sustain and strengthen our clubs future we promote & develop junior softball by running an annual Player Performance Programme for our talented young players.

The club is supported by a very proactive committee and loyal membership.
