Meeanee School is a small school on the fringe of Napier city.   We cater for children from Years 1 to 8.   Children transition from us to a range of High Schools in Napier and Hastings.

The school is set just off Meeanee Road in Gavin Black Street, 5 minutes from Taradale and central Napier. There is a community hall, playgroup and sports stadium adjoining the school property.

Children enjoy the use of extensive grounds which include:  swimming pool, playing fields, hard court area, adventure playground, sandpit, bike track, edible orchard and gardening area.

Currently we have 4 classrooms which have all been modernised to meet the current standards. The school can accommodate 100 children and roll numbers are just below that, allowing smaller numbers in our new entrant class.

The Board of Trustees has invested in an extra portable classroom for visiting professionals to use and for small group teaching.

The school is a member of the Whirinaki Community of Learning (Kahui Ako). This geographically spread but pedagogically close community includes the following schools: Maraekakaho, Twyford, St Josephs, Mayfair, Karamu HS, Clive, Pakowhai and ourselves.

The school has a strong focus on core curriculum and outdoor education. Staff are involved in Digital and Cultural Responsiveness professional development opportunities.

In 2020 additional space will be added to the school which will provide for a larger library, staffroom, resource storage and multi purpose space which will allow the whole school to meet in one space. A new adventure playground is being installed at the end of this year at the front of the school.

Two after school care options are available- both provide transport to and from their bases in Taradale and Tamatea.  Registration forms and contact details are available from the school office.

Parents need to complete a pre-enrolment form for pre-schoolers. This provides the Board with more accurate information regarding future in-zone enrolments and from which they can estimate the number of out of zone places to allocate for the following year.

Contact the school office for a form or an appointment to meet with the Principal to discuss your child's enrolment
