2024 Programmes
In 2024 we will endeavour to provide opportunities that suit each level & ability of coaches, players & umpires. There are a range of opportunities for you to engage in from the Netball Smart Programme to fundamental netball skills, & technical/tactical aspects for the deilvery of netball.
Our core coaching framework will embrace:
- FutureFERNS Year 1 to 4 Star Helpers
- FutureFERNS Year 5 to 8 (FUNdamental coaches)
- Secondary Schools (Year 9 to 13) (FUNdamental coaches)
- Senior club coaches (FUNdamental coaches)
- Premier club & secondary school coaches (Emerging Coaches)

Please note: these programmes will also assist you to work towards gaining your Community Coach level 1 or 2 Award if you wish to do so. *pre-requisites may apply to some of these workshops. If you are unsure which modules you have completed please email [email protected]

Pre-Season Coach Connects
We are piloting a series of workshops & connects to support our coaches to upskill & gain confidence in the delivery of netball in the Hutt Valley.
Our pre-season connects are open to all coaches (new & returning) who are keen to gain some new ideas, cement previous learnings & make connections with other like minded individuals within our community.
FUNdamental Coach Connects
We aspire to have a group of like-minded coaches engaged in our pilot connect programme in 2024. This programme has been designed to ensure our coaches are confident & competent in delivering the fundamental movement skills & attacking/defensive techniques to help grow our players capbility & enjoyment in the game. This programme is open to all new & returning coaches in the Hutt Valley who are keen to grow their knowledge & understanding to support our players within the community. This programme will run pre & during the season to help coaches to continually stretch & grow their players. Recommended coaching areas: Year 5 to 8, secondary schools (juniors), and senior club teams.
Engagement in the connect programme will support your development in effectively delivering: movement skills, shooting technique, centre pass to circle edge, defence, through court play & tournament preparation (AIMS/LNISS).
Emerging Coaches Connects
We aspire to have a cohort of like-minded coaches engaged in our pilot programme for 2024. This programme has been designed for our premier secondary school & club coaches alongside our representative coaches, to ensure we are providing players the opportunity to learn & grow and work towards performance targets in a local setting (NHV premier competition) and on a national level (representative/ LNISS) level. We aspire to have premier & representative players learning alongside our coaches to provide real time learning & development opportunities to improve our technical & tactical knowledge of the game whilst ensuring we build safe & supportive communities capturing player well-being, mental skills & developing physical capacity.
Engagement in the connect programme will support your development in effectively: Selecting, planning, mental skills, developing physical capacity, skills analysis, attacking, defence, game analysis, centre pass retention, through-court, tournament planning & player management. Sessions will be delivered in a mix on online & in-person practicals facilitated by Netball Hutt Valley, Netball Wellington Centre and Netball Central Zone accredited Coach Developers.
