Newlands Softball Club was formed at a public meeting on 22nd September 1969 as an adjunct to the Newlands Paparangi Recreation Club.

The original Uniforms were agreed to be "blue and gold (predominately blue), to have vertical stripes, if available"
A number of Men's and Women's Teams were formed, along with eight Children's Teams.

Due to the timing of the formation of the Club, no space was available at Newlands Park for a Softball diamond during the first season. The first game at the park may have been "Married Men v. Single Men", held on 17th December 1969.
Two Diamonds at Newlands Park were allocated for the 1970-71 Season.

The original Club Captain was Dave McCrae, whose parents donated the McCrae Cup for "Best All Round Player". This cup still gets presented every year.

A Social Men's Team was first formed for the 1972-73 Season.

NSC split from the Recreation Club and was incorporated in its own right in August 1976
