Years 3 & 4 futureFERNS

Year 3

Year 3 players will participate in both the futureFERNs programme (that is run in Term 2 in the Northland Community Hall) and will play netball games on Saturday afternoon (which will continue into Term 3), if they choose. futureFERNs training will begin in term 2. In Term 3 a weekly training session is arranged. 

Year 4

Year 4 players will participate in both the futureFERNs programme (that is run in Terms 2&3 in the Northland Community Hall) and will play netball games on Saturday afternoon (which will continue into Term 3).  The team manager or coach will be in touch soon with further details and confirmation of training details.

futureFERNS is Netball New Zealand’s official junior netball programme.  To ignite a lifelong involvement in netball, a sequential programme has been developed that is at the right level for the players at each stage. The emphasis is on fun activities conducted in a safe environment.  Small-sided games are the preferred training method and are proven to be the most appropriate way to enhance skill and tactical development.

The focus for this age group is designed to be fast and fun, maximising participation and touches of the ball. With modified equipment and less players on the court, in 5 v 5 the game is less complicated.
