PACERS LEAGUE

What is Pacers League?? It is a competition for kids who are between year 5 and year 8. It focuses purely on development and having fun. There are no finals. It is for those who have some basketball experience and is usually held on Friday nights during terms 1 and 4. In 2023/4 we are now offering 'competitive grades' for players who play in U13 blue and yellow teams and/or regional rep teams.

Pioneer club create the Pacer teams from registrations and are aimed to be as similar as possible. Managers are essential to this league as every team has one! There will be experienced and less experienced players in each team. This is an opportunity for leadership and game development for experienced players, but a confidence and skill growth for less experienced. After week 1 teams can change, but from week 2 teams will remain the same.

We hope to get x24 year 5/6 girls and x24 yr 7/8 girls register to create 6 teams of each age group. For the yr 5/6 and 7/8 boys there will be a max of 48 players per age group.

For year 7&8 Boys and Girls there may also be a competitive grade (rep players, U13 Blue and Yellow senior club teams) This is subject to change as it depends on number of registrations.

Each week starts with 20 minutes of a game-like scenario drill led by our development officer. Players then go to a court and practice the skill with their team and coach. Games will commense after 15-20minutes of the skill. 3X3 games have one referee and are 5minute halves but play 3 games.

Mouthguards will be compulsory: No mouthguard No game. These are for sale at the Pioneer Basketball Desk in the Gym ($6 per Mouthguard)

Dates - Fridays: 16th, 23rd February, 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd March

Times 4pm - 8pm

  • 4-5pm; Girls Year 5 - 8 + Year 5/6 Boys 
  • 5-6pm; Boys Year 7/8
