What you can expect if you join the Optimist Learn to Race Program
Use of Fibreglass Racing Optimists for the term of the Program (you can bring your own Optimist or O'pen BIC into the program, repairs & maintenance to your own Optimist is owners responsibility).
Membership & use of Ravensbourne Boating Club (RBC) facilities. (Existing members of other Otago yachting club’s can belong to both clubs).
Experienced Coaches at all coaching sessions.
De-brief sessions after training / racing.
Fitness program
Regular racing at various yacht clubs in the Otago Yachting Assn Program for the season. Including the Otago Optimist Summer Series (OOSS) or Otago O'pen BIC Summer Series (OOBSS) with the possibility of attending Provincial & National Championships.
National & International regattas (requires Trust approval. Some support to attend these events may be considered).
The opportunity to have a go in a 29er under supervision.
Entry into the O'pen BIC or 29er Program for the next season when you become too old for Optimists.
