What the Trust will expect from you.

  • Commitment; This is required if you sign up for one of the programs, if you can not commit yourself to a program then let it be known from the beginning so that others don’t miss out.  This is most important when sailing in O'pen BIC or 29ers, if you don’t turn up your team member misses out as well.
  • Sharing: What has made Trust sailors succeed and stand out in the past has been their ability to share information amongst themselves. Through sharing information & experiences you learn from each other, a sailor who is out in front helps those behind catch-up making him work harder to stay in front, this has a snowball effect making the team even better.
  • Responsibility; Be responsible for your actions, you have been given the use of very expensive yachts that need looking after & maintained in good order. Take care of these yachts as if they are your own, wash them down after use, ensure that nothing is left lying around, that there has been no wear or damage from sailing & report to your coach lost or damaged gear. Don’t take gear off another yacht unless authorised to do so by the coach. Don’t use the yachts as toys on the water, needless capsizing etc is going to reduce the quality of the boat & sails. If you see Trust property left unattended or being abused report it to the coach immediately.
  • Behaviour; To behave in a manner that will not bring disrespect to yourself, The RYYT, RBC or any members of these organisations. Bad language is offensive and on or near the water it can travel a considerable distance, engage the brain before the tongue.
  • Personal Items; You should always bring with you the following
  • Wetsuit or suitable warm clothing.
  • Booties or shoes (sharp rocks, shells & glass on sea bottom).
  • Hat or beanie (with string to attach to jacket)
  • Windbreaker
  • Extra warm thermal or wool clothing (not cotton).
  • Sunscreen (UV reflection off the water is serious even when there is no sun).
  • Food for after sailing and snacks like mini Moros while sailing
  • Water bottle.
  • Lifejacket (RBC has limited number available for loan)
  • Trapeze Harness (29er Crew only, some are available for loan).
