INJURY PREVENTION

The Club takes injury prevention very seriously and is always working to minimise injuries for our junior players.  There are many ways the Club helps to keep players safe:

  • All coaches and assistant coaches attend a Small Blacks training courses each season
  • The Club runs a skills session with coaches on concussion and rugby specific warm-up and warm-down exercises
  • All players new to tackle rugby attend a specialist tackle clinic at the beginning of the season
  • New mouth guards are provided to all junior players each season
  • The Club runs a pre-season fitness programme and provides fitness charts for players to work through at home
  • All coaches are equipt with first aid kits, ice packs and the Club injury procedures

Fitness can help reduce injuries and increase players enjoyment of the game.  To download the fitness charts click on the links to the right.
