Volunteers

Like many other sports, Softball also needs support from parents, teachers and friends   keen to commit as a COACH, SCORER, UMPIRE or MANAGER.

 Coaches

  • Teaches technical skills, runs a training session during the week, teaches rules and game strategy
  • Gives valuable tips during the game, decides the players’ batting order and the subs.
  • To ensure the coach can concentrate on coaching during the games it is necessary that all other jobs as shown below will be filled by other helpers. The coach should not umpire!
  • For further training or Clinics for Coaches please contact Senior Co Ordinator.
  • Coaches Accrediations please see president or veiw SNZ Click here

 Umpires

  • Each team needs to provide umpires. If your game is 4pm, then you will be required to provide umpires for the 2pm game and vice versa. Team players are encouraged to learn to umpire.. Base Umpire First, then Plate.
  • Please let Cass Seeling know if you would like to attend an umpiring clinic in the next few weeks. If we have enough attendees we are happy to arrange a clinic for a small fee.

 Scorers

  • Each team needs to provide a BASIC scorer.  If you are new as a scorer and would like to get a start introduction, please let Marion (Chief Scorer) know.

 Managers

  • The manager is the contact for the Association's Senior Coordinator and Draw Officer.
  • The manager checks the weekly draw online and sends it to the team.
  • The manager will also register their players for WBOP Rep team trials.

 Clinics

For beginners and advanced volunteers we offer coaching, umpiring & scoring clinics.

Please let the Senior or Junior Softball Coordinator know if you are interested in   attending any coaching clinics

 Training

If your team would like to practice on the field or one of the diamonds or you would like   to play a friendly game at the Ball park please pre-book the field, date and time, as   diamonds are pre booked.

  • Send following details to the Senior or Junior Coordinator: Team name/ Manager's name/ Contact details/ what day/ field or Diamond/what time/for how long
  • Booking requests for a one off must be made with a 5-days notice. The earlier the better as many spots are already booked.
