TOURNAMENTS & TRADITIONALS

Wellington College Senior A and Junior A teams participate in several tournaments each year. Tournament dates, location and venue are posted once they have been published.

The St Patrick's College Classic is a pre-season tournament run in the April holidays and played at St Patrick's College and Rongotai College. Taking part in the tournament are WC, Rongotai, St Patrick's, New Plymouth BHS, Palmerston North BHS and Hastings BHS.

Wellington College play St Patrick's, New Plymouth Boys High School, Silverstream and Palmerston North Boys High School in annual traditional fixtures on a home and away basis.

Basketball New Zealand host the New Zealand Secondary Schools Premiership and National Championships tournaments.

Attendance at these tournaments may incur travel and accommodation costs for players and parents of the Senior A and Junior A teams. Costs will depend on the location of the tournaments. In 2023 the Senior B and Junior B teams also competed in a number of tournaments, we will try to open up this option again in 2024.

WC is classified as an 'AA' college because the school has over 300 students.

To qualify for the National Championships the seniors must place in the top 6 at the Zone 3 Premiership (ie Regionals). There is no National Championship at the junior level.
