Learn to Row Programme

The Learn to Row (LTR) programme provides an introduction to rowing and coxing for Wellington College students.  Any student can participate and at the end of the programme the coaches will select a novice squad for the season.

Rowing is a fantastic team sport that will help you develop fitness and strength.  During the season, the squad has trips away for training in Whanganui and Manawatu.  The whole squad will attend three major regattas, including the North Island Secondary Schools Champs (NISSC) at Lake Karapiro in Cambridge.

Rowing for WCRC is also a good chance to mix with rowers from other schools that are part of the Star Boating Club.  Other schools include Wellington Girls College, Queen Margaret College, Scots College and Wellington East Girls.

The LTR programme will run from Saturday 19 August until mid September.  Typically, the programme will be two morning sessions during the week and one session each weekend.  It is expected that participants in the LTR programme will attend all or at least the majority of sessions, especially if they are looking for selection in the novice squad.  The novice squad will be named at the conclusion of the programme.
