VOLUNTEERS PLEASE

Clubs are only as good as its membership and the backbone of any club is volunteer support from its own members. Every race requires a race manager, timekeepers and several marshals, and without them we are unable to run the great events you’re so keen to participate in.

All members must volunteer at least twice per season to manage races or assist with marshalling or timekeeping.

  • Once between 1 Sept - 31 Dec.
  • Once between 1 Jan - 30 Apr.
  • Members sign up for their two volunteer duties using the Dutyman online system. Members are provided with a log-on so they can select events where they wish to volunteer. Any member who does not sign up to two volunteer duties will be allocated duties by the Membership Coordinator.
  • You can access Dutyman here. You simply assign yourself to volunteer in a race and everyone can see an up-to-date version of the roster of who's doing what and when.
  • Members can swap a volunteer duty at any stage using the Dutyman system.
  • Any paid member who has not completed or registered for volunteer duties will:
    • Be required to pay a visitor race fee for any events they enter.
    • Be ineligible for club championship podium placings and trophies and to compete for club championships and trophies.

    RACE MANAGEMENT

We encourage you to have a go at being a Race Manager. It is very straightforward. As RM you are the "overseer" of the event. The STMS will set up the course & direct the marshals in their roles.

Without more people willing to step up, we cannot run our events!

For the 2023-24 season we now have a google drive that contains the current Race Manager Checklist (this is intended to help you both in the lead up to your event & on the day). Also short "How To" videos showing you how to access the Onetime system for information on your riders.

You & your Timing Volunteer will run the Registration & Start/Finish areas. It isn't overly onerous.

We now have a WhatsApp group to communicate with the Onetime timing company before, during & after the event. Please ensure you have been added to the group for communication purposes.

If you'd like to give it a try or find out more about what's involved, email Deborah here.

    RACE MANAGERS REPORT

    Volunteer Experience
I have just completed my first Race managers job. I can say that it was nowhere near as difficult as what I thought it would be. With Debs looking after the traffic setup I was left to make sure that the event ran as planned. All marshal's turned up and from there is was easy as (Errol Mann).

    ELECTRONIC TIMING

Regardless of the role you have volunteered for, we ask that you familiarize yourself with the Electronic Timing System. It's very easy to use. There are few things to be understood about what the person running the system at Onetime needs to know, all this info is in the Timing Instructions Document HERE.

There are some videos to come which will hopefully make things even easier to understand!
