Our History

The Wellington Masters Cycling Club (WMCC and often called the "Vets") was formed in September 1983 by a group of "experienced" cyclists who wanted to continue racing but also promote the recreational and social side.

The veterans only club was a NZ first. Initially specialising in time trial events, the original name was the Veterans' Road Time Trial Association (VRTTA). But when we also started road racing, the name was changed to the Wellington Veteran Cycling Club and more recently to the "Wellington Masters Cycling Club".

WMCC is affiliated to Cycling NZ, NZ's cycling governing body.

The club runs a full calendar of events between September and April.

Fun Ride - open to ages and non-members.
See the club race calendar and racing info page for more info.

Volunteering
Clubs are only as good as its membership. Every race requires a race manager, timekeepers and several marshals. All members must volunteer at least twice per season to manage races or assist with marshalling or timekeeping. This allows the club to operate safe, affordable, stress-free races.... More Here.
