2026/27 Season Info

Trainings and Games location

The home of the Nelson American Football Club is Avery Field, next to Garin College. The field is located off Champion Road, Richmond, next to the Saxton Velodrome. There is plenty of parking near the field.

Registration Fees

There will be three categories for registration fees this season - Men's, Women's and Under 18.

There will be early bird rates which are valid until 8pm on Sunday 27th September.

Registration fees for the 2026 Honey Bowl season are:

- Under 18 and Women: Early bird rate is $40, regular rate is $50

- Mens: Early bird rate is $50, regular rate is $60

Preseason

There will be three "Have a Go" sessions held before the season commences. The dates for these are:

- Sunday 23rd August (Women's players)

- Sunday 6th September

- Sunday 13th September

The sessions will be held from 1-3pm at the Avery Field.

Preseason training begins Thursday 1st October. Training sessions will be held on Sundays from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, and Thursdays from 6pm to 8pm.

Nelson Honey Bowl Competition

The Nelson Honey Bowl competition will commence on Thursday 22nd October. This may move forward one week pending registration numbers and the potential of a 5 team competition.

The draw will be announced on our club Facebook page. Round robin games will conclude on Thursday 26th November and the Finals will be held the following two weeks. This may also be move to one week later depending on the final number of teams in the competition.

Trainings for all teams and players will be held each Sunday from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.

Registrations for the 2026 Nelson Honey Bowl competition will open on Saturday 22nd August. An Early Bird discounted price will apply until Friday 18th September, 8pm.

Nelson Honey Badgers Club Representative Teams

Upon the conclusion of the Honey Bowl competition, we will begin trainings for the club national tournament which will be held in March / April 2026. We will select the mens and womens teams to compete in the tournament in early 2026.

2026/27 Junior Program

We currently do not offically have a junior program. However if you are a player between 11 and 13 please contact us we would love to have you come along and learn the sport.

2026/27 Women's Program

We would love for more female athletes to join the club, with the aim of sending our first women's team, Nelson Honey Badgers Wāhine, to the club National tournament in March / April 2027. Please contact us if you would like to give Flag Football a go.
