After a whirlwind two weeks in Vancouver, the New Zealand White Sox touched down in Auckland in the early hours of Thursday 11th July. Eighteen (18) athletes had earned a well-deserved place to represent New Zealand on the international stage, competing in the Canada Cup Women’s International Fastpitch tournament from 1 - 7 July, with a series of warm-up games against locals Langford and Fusion, along with Team Greece. 

After a week of tough competition, the White Sox took the field in their final game against Chinese Taipei. Though their opposition ranks 3rd in the WBSC standings, the White Sox battled hard for over three (3) hours, in a seven inning battle against World number 3, narrowly losing 5 - 6 in the final inning. 

We at Softball New Zealand have witnessed the teams dedication, perseverance and unwavering spirit throughout the Canada Cup competition, and we couldn’t be prouder of the squad. Congratulations to the team - the leadership group through to the debutants, the coaches and team management. We wish to thank the supporters who have cheered the team on from the stands, and via live stream! We love seeing such support for our National squads. A huge thank you to Lyn Lockhart for her support of our staff, and using her organisational prowess to arrange the tour.
