Code of Conduct

Respect, Sportsmanship, Inclusive & Welcoming Environment

  • Treat all players with respect & courtesy at all times
  • Win or lose - maintain a positive attitude & show good sportsmanship
  • Accept responsibility for your actions & be a positive role model
  • Avoid any form of abusive language, gestures or actions towards others

Tennis Etiquette

There are some fundamental unwritten rules to ensure we play fair and respectfully and exercise etiquette on the court:

If you hit someone with the ball, apologise

You should never try to hit your opponent on purpose, but if you happen to hit your opponent by accident then apologise and try to avoid this happening again.

Avoid Racket & Ball Abuse

Racket throwing and ball abuse (e.g. intentionally hitting the ball out of the court enclosure or hitting the ball with negligent disregard of the consequences) is detrimental to the game & distressing to the other players.

Remember the Score

It's the server’s responsibility to remember the score.

Respect the Line Calls

Respect your opponent’s line call, whether you agree with it or not.

Keep balls within your own court

Try to keep the ball on your own court as much as possible. Return balls to your opponent in a courteous manner.

Keep Quiet Around Other Players

Loud conversations can be distracting to the other players.

Don’t Walk Behind or Across a Court Without Permission

This can be annoying for players and is a distraction. It's best to wait for the point to end and ask to cross.

Conflict Resolution

  • Address issues or disagreements in a respectful & constructive manner.
  • For unresolved conflicts, seek assistance from club captain or mediator.
  • Avoid negative talk or complaints about other players in public or online.

(Note: Violations may result in a warning or in extreme cases, removal from the club depending on the severity & frequency of the offence.)

By adhering to this code of conduct we can create an enjoyable, safe & inclusive environment for all members of the Club.

If you have any questions or comments about the code of conduct please raise these with club captain Matthew Pearce.
