FEE: $25 first horse per rider, $20 each additional horse per same rider

Rules & Conditions for Attending a “Training Day” at Battle Hill Regional Park, Paekakariki Hill Road, Pauatahanui

Battle Hill Regional Park is a public park managed by the Greater Wellington Regional Council (GWRC).

By signing this “Training Day Entry Form” you:

  1. agree that you are responsible for the actions of all persons in your party, and you will ensure that you and all person’s in your party understand, accept and abide by the GWRC Park Rules and Regulations, and the Conditions of Participation stated below;
  2. acknowledge that if you or anyone in your party do not abide by these rules and conditions you may be asked by BHEI or GWRC Park personnel to leave the Park with no refund of entry fee;
  3. acknowledge you are aware of and accept the inherent risks in horse riding and cross country jumping.

CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

  • All riders, owners and supporters attend this Training Day at their own risk.
  • NO dogs are allowed in the Park (GWRC Rule).
  • There are no professional medical or veterinary services available at this Training Day or at the Park and you accept this risk.
  • There may be stock on the course.
  • The cycle tracks are not closed. Please ride with extreme caution whenever on, or crossing, the cycle track. Riders must give way to cyclists.
  • Riders dress and saddlery must meet the requirements in “ESNZ Rules of Eventing” pertaining to the Cross Country test. This includes wearing a Back Protector, and an approved helmet at all times the rider is mounted.
  • It is recommended that riders wear a Medical armband but is not compulsory.
  • Riders must wear their back number when on course.
  • Riders must ride with another rider or have a support person on foot. NO PERSON UNDER 16 YEARS OF AGE MAY RIDE UNLESS ACCOMPANIED BY A RESPONSIBLE ADULT.
  • Riders must only jump the cross country obstacles that have been flagged.
  • Riders must only jump obstacles within the range of the horse and rider competence.
  • Riders agree to ride a maximum of three rounds per mount.
  • Riders must give way to other riders who are following close behind.
  • Riders must move on to another obstacle if the horse refuses more than 4 times at one obstacle.
  • Riders and any accompanying supporters must leave all gates as they find them. 
  • This is a Public park - riders must watch out for members of the public who could be on the course.
  • Riders must remove all horse manure and rubbish from the Park when they leave.
