The Summer season runs on Wednesdays during Term 4 and Term 1 the following year.

Membership for all athletes can be for the whole year starting 1 April. Junior athletes should consider joining early to take advantage of the Winter season before Summer competition commences. It is the same price to join for the Summer.

Club Night - Timings and meeting locations:

3-4 year olds - 5:30pm-6pm - 80m track in front of the clubrooms. 

5-6 year olds - 6pm-7pm - 80m track in front of the clubrooms. 

7-11 year old Girls 6pm onwards – 100m Finish line (approx 7.30pm finish)

7-11 year olds Boys 6pm onwards – 400m finish line (approx 7.30pm finish)

12+ year olds 6pm onwards – Long Jump all-weather Track (approx 7.30pm finish)

Please note, we will require some parent/caregiver assistance to make the night work.
We may combine older groupings depending on numbers.

Mandatory requirements:

A parent or caregiver must be at the grounds for Health and Safety requirements.

Optional requirements:

Bring your own NAMED water bottle
Wear Hat and Sunscreen

Cancellations will be posted on our Facebook page 'Cambridge Junior Athletics (Community Organisation)' by 5pm.

Programme: 

Age groups will rotate around a programme of track and field events or modified athletics games.

  • Tiny Tots (Grade 3 & 4 years) - Get Set Go Programme Skills activities and 2 races on own track.Help Required: 4 or 5 parent helpers
  • Grades 5 & 6 years - Get Set Go! Skill activities based on Run, Jump and Throw plus 2 races on track. Aim to finish by 7 pm.Help Required: Require 1 age group manager for each grade ie grade 5 girls, grade 5 boys etc plus 2 parent helpers for each grade.
  • Grades 7 & Over - Run-Jump-Throw!

Grade 7 & 8: 60m, 100m, 200m, Long Jump, Shot put, Discus

Grade 9  60m, 100m, 200m, 800m, Long Jump, Shot put, Discus

Grade 10 to 14 Training, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, Long Jump, High Jump, Shot put, Discus

Grade 13 & 14 Also Triple Jump

Grade 15,16,17 (Events will be offered within the programme but is dependent on numbers).

Help Required: Each grade has an age group manager who co-ordinates the nights activities plus ideally 3 parent helpers would assist with helping events run smoothly.

Coaching: Coaching courses (Run-Jump-Throw) are run for Age Group Managers and parents to help the children and manuals are available in the club rooms.  In addition, specialised coaches are also brought in to teach hurdles, relay changes, and how to use start blocks etc.

Officials: Officials courses are available for Track & Field events starting at Level C. Please ask a committee member for more information.

Supervision and Help: During club night a parent or caregiver must stay with their children for children <15 years. This is a legal requirement. In addition, you will be able to help with measuring throws and jumps, or with place judging at the finish line of running events.

Should your child become unwell, injure themselves or misbehave, you must be available to attend to them.  You are responsible for your own children.
