WATERSIDE KARORI WIN WOMEN'S PREMIER LEAGUE

Waterside Karori have secured the Women's Premier League title and kept their perfect season record intact.

The league leaders were too good for Wellington United's reserves at Wakefield Park on Sunday, winning 2-0 - their 12th win from as many matches this season.

That extended their lead to eight points at the top of the ladder with two games to go.

Victoria University, who will be joining Karori in being promoted to the W-League next season, secured their ninth win of the season with a 6-0 triumph over Island Bay United.

That result allowed Brooklyn Northern United to leapfrog Island Bay into fifth after they beat Stop out 4-1. That could be crucial if two teams are relegated this season.

The other match saw Petone beat Kapiti Coast 2-1.

In the W-League, Wellington United are now just one win away from securing the title after they beat Palmerston North Marist 3-1 on Saturday.

Wairarapa United ensured the season is alive for at least one more week after they earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Seatoun. That means the gap between the two sides remains at five points with two games to go.

Upper Hutt City and Western Suburbs drew the other match 2-2.

The Ultra Football Central League leading lights both were made to work for their wins on Sunday.

Napier City Rovers needed an 86-minute penalty from Golden Boot leader Martin Bueno to beat bottom side Havelock North Wanderers in the Hawke's Bay derby.

At Endeavour Park, Western Suburbs were down 1-0 to Stop Out after Luke Grindlay scored in the 80th minute, but goals to Nando Pinjaker and Dominic Wooldridge in the final four minutes ensured the gap between the top two stayed at three points with two games to go.

On Saturday, Waterside Karori moved one point clear of Havelock North in the drop zone after a 1-1 draw against Lower Hutt City.

Elsewhere, Miramar Rangers beat Wairarapa United 2-1 to move well clear of the relegation zone, while Wellington United beat Wellington Olympic 3-2.

In the Capital Premier division, Lower Hutt's reserves look seemingly set for the drop. They lost 7-1 to champions North Wellington on Saturday.

Olympic's reserves then beat Island Bay United 2-0 to move five points clear of Lower Hutt.

But Olympic aren't out of trouble yet, with two teams potentially facing the drop. Their win moved them level on 16 points with Kapiti Coast United, who lost 1-0 to Miramar's reserves. Island Bay are a further two points ahead of that pair on 18 points.

In mid-table results, Tawa beat Petone 3-1, while Upper Hutt City won 4-2 against Wests' reserves.
