Capital Football would like to congratulate Western Suburbs on successfully completing and achieving the New Zealand Football Quality Club Mark (QCM). The New Zealand QCM is an accreditation to clubs that display wholistic excellence aligned with the New Zealand Football Whole of Football Plan.
There are two levels of QCM, 1 star and 2 stars, referencing the quality at which clubs have completed the requirements, and Western Suburbs have successfully earned their first star, a fantastic achievement for any club in the region.
Dean Eagar, Western Suburbs Chairman was grateful for the boost the AED and recognition the Quality Club Mark will give the Club in moving forward.
“We are community based, so to have that (AED) available for the community will be great. It’s been good, been a bit of self-reflection for the club. We have had to look at our different process in our different areas and make sure that we are covering off the different parts of the criteria that were required.”
“There has been a lot of time put in to getting to this point. We have a pathway in place now with our relationship with Ole’, so it’s not just the Elite players we look after, our vision for our club is that we cater for football at all levels and involve the community and having the defib and QCM will certainly help with that as well.”
Quality Club Mark assesses several areas on and off the field, the successful collaboration of all parts highlighting a positive and progressive environment for players, coaches, referees, administrators, and volunteers to be a part of. Assessed areas include but are not limited to club administration and leadership, referee and player development, community engagement and Football For All.
Callum Holmes, Capital Football Federation Development Officer and Quality Club Mark portfolio lead stressed the importance of continuing to develop club standards in the Capital and the importance of recognising Western Suburbs achievement.
“To be awarded the Quality Club Mark is a fantastic achievement and shows the progressive nature of Western Suburbs and their continued effort in leading the way forward in the club scene.”
“The growth in awareness around club capabilities and player welfare is something that also needs to be highlighted and celebrated. There is still a long way to go in continuing to develop this space, but the successes and achievements like this show the progress clubs are beginning to make.”
“To go for the Quality Club Mark is not just an investment in the current players or environment but also in the future success of the club. Again, Western Suburbs is showing they are invested in their club and the development of their environment, something we believe all clubs should be striving for. “
“At the end of the day, providing the best possible environment is what is important, and the ever-changing sporting landscape means this can be difficult. By following the structure of New Zealand Football’s Quality Club Mark, it becomes straight forward and attainable for every club.”
With the successful achievement of the Quality Club Mark, Western Suburbs receive the Quality Club Mark recognition, the complete backing and support of New Zealand Football and New Zealand Football resources including an AED for the Western Suburbs grounds. Jamie Milne, New Zealand Community Development Manager, oversees the Quality Club Mark throughout New Zealand and expressed the importance of the achievement for Western Suburbs.
“My warmest congratulations to Western Suburbs and their club leadership and members for achieving QCM 1-star status.”
“This is a great achievement and highlights how the club is striving for high standards of operations both on and off the field. The club is working hard to be a key player in community sport in the Porirua region and provide football opportunities for all.”
“I would also like to acknowledge the effort and commitment of Capital Football staff supporting the QCM accreditation process – both club and Federation can reflect back fondly on this and kick on to the next stage of impact in their community – kia kaha and well done.”
On Thursday the 1st of November Western Suburbs Chairman Dean Eagar and Club Administrator Jo Todd were presented with the New Zealand QCM Plaque and AED by Holmes and Nick Chong, Fit4Football representative.
