Venue Hire Terms & Conditions

  • HIREAGE PERIOD - The standard HIREAGE PERIOD is 3 hours.
    The clubrooms, lawns & facilities will be EXCLUSIVELY FOR YOUR GROUP ONLY during the hireage period.
    If you would like to stay longer, a charge of $100 per each extra hour applies. (capped at 2 extra hours)

    Hireage period to finish no later than 8.30pm.

  • DEPOSIT - $100 non-refundable deposit is required to confirm your booking
    (refunded only if the confirmed booking date is subject to wet, inclement or unfavourable weather,
    Covid-19 restrictions or force majeure circumstances which prevent the hireage from going ahead)
  • EQUIPMENT - All on-lawn equipment is provided and included in the hireage (croquet mallets, balls, hoops & pegs etc.)

  • COACHING & TUITION - In the opening period of your hireage, Carlton's members assist with COACHING & TUITION of the game tactics and strategy.

  • FOOTWEAR - Your own flat-soled shoes are required on the lawns.   

  • PARKING - Parking is available at-the-end of the long, shared driveway for TWO CARS ONLY
    Further parking can be found nearby in Corbett-Scott Avenue or King George Avenue.


  • The club is NOT LICENSED to sell alcohol on the premises.
    However, you are most welcome to bring your own food & drinks, have BYO, have catering delivered or have commercial caterers on-site.
    No payment is to be charged or received at your event, by any individual participant, for any food or beverage consumed at the event.


  • SMOKING / VAPING or the use of illegal drugs are NOT permitted inside the Clubrooms, Rain Shelters, Verandahs or on the Croquet Lawns.
    The designated smoking area (on-the-premises) is the Garden Seat adjacent to the Flag Pole.


  • GLASSWARE - No glassware is permitted on the croquet lawns (bottles & cans are okay).
    Please provide your own disposable or recyclable drinking tumblers.


  • FRYING - No frying of any type is permitted in the kitchen (includes deep or shallow frying & stand-alone deep fryers). This is an insurance requirement. 

  • BBQ - You may bring your own gas fuelled BBQ, to be used on the raised grassed area at-the-rear of the clubhouse (not on the croquet lawns)

  • HEALTH & SAFETY - There is a First Aid Kit, AED Defibrillator, Fire Blanket & two Fire Extinguishers on-site.

  • EVACUATION PLAN - In the event of a FIRE, the designated assembly area is the MEETING POINT OF ALL THE CROQUET LAWNS.

  • COVID-19 POLICY - All attendees must comply with the current COVID-19 guidelines as set down by Ministry of Health.

  • ANIMALS - Domestic animals are not permitted on the premises, except for Certified Disabilty Assist Dogs
    These dogs must be kept under control at all times.
    Animal droppings must be collected & removed immediately by the dog owner.


  • PAYMENT - Our treasurer will send an invoice for the deposit, once you have confirmed your booking, which is payable within 7 days.  An invoice for the balance will be sent closer to the time of the event, with payment required on or before the day of the event.
    Preferred payment method is by direct credit as the club does not have any eftpos or debit/credit card facilities.


  • CANCELLATION DUE TO WEATHER - If the weather proves unfavourable (wet or inclement) you may wish to either postpone or cancel your event.
    A full refund will be provided. 


  • PROPERTY DAMAGE - Please be aware that hirers are liable for any costs incurred by our insurer in the event of an insurance claim as a result of any negligence, by the hirer,  that causes damage to the clubrooms and/or grounds during the course of the hireage.

  • PRIVATE EVENT - The club hireage event will be EXCLUSIVELY FOR YOUR GROUP ONLY and is to be regarded as a PRIVATE FUNCTION.
    Your club hireage is NOT to be sub-let or advertised to the general public, via any media platform, both printed or digital.
