Our CENTRAL HINDS are into the 2023/24 Dream11 Super Smash Grand Final after a dazzling 45-run win against Northern Brave in the Elimination Final in Hamilton last night!
The Hinds put together a blinder in their knockout clash with hosts the Brave, hard-hitting HOLLIE ARMITAGE blasting a near-career best 78 off just 50 balls at a 156 strike rate and sharing a second-wicket stand of 107 (just two runs shy of the Hinds record) with THAMSYN NEWTON (34) after Hinds skipper NATALIE DODD had elected to bat first.
The team was even more impressive with the ball, swing bowler CLAUDIA GREEN expanding her repertoire this season and coming up with the first T20 hat-trick in the team's history - beginning with the big wicket of Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu, well caught by MIKAELA GREIG at extra cover who did well whilst looking straight into the sun.
Next ball, new batter Nensi Patel was caught off a bouncer and then for the hat-trick delivery Green trapped Marina Lamplough with a full, slower in-swinger to not only achieve a special feat with the ball, but leave the Brave in a heap at 19/4.
It was just the seventh hat in the whole history of the women's Dream11 Super Smash and Geen finished with a career-best 4/24 in the 45-run victory.
The Hinds haven’t been in a T20 Final since 2015/16 when the Canterbury Magicians beat them for the title, and have named an unchanged squad for the Sunday afternoon title fight with Wellington Blaze for this year's trophy.
The teams tied their last match of the regular season, in Wellington. In the event of a tie this time, there will be a Super Over.
