Fresh off a hard fought draw against Auckland A, CENTRAL DISTRICTS A hits the road this weekend on a trip to Wellington for a three-day match at the Basin Reserve.
1,172 runs were scored over three days at Pukekura Park at the tail of February with the CD highlights a five-wicket bag to Stefan Hook-Sporry and 4-fa for Jarrod Mckay; and unbeaten 134* from captain Ma'ara Ave in a pivotal 199-run sixth-wicket stand with Akash Gill (71) that enabled Ave to declare the first innings response at 315 for six.

Then came a last-innings collapse - however, key resistance from Will Clark and Arana Noema-Barnett lifted the finish, Clark digging in for more than two hours on the last afternoon for his unbeaten 69*.
Youngster Clark had shared an unbroken 76-run partnership for the seventh with Noema-Barnett (29*) to ensure the strong Auckland side did not fly off with any bragging rights.

The squad to play Wellington A from this Sunday in the capital features several changes from the fixture against Auckland A, including Central Stags batsman Tom Bruce as he looks to reboot his form and Joey Field who performed 12th man duties again for the Stags in the most recent round of Plunket Shield action.
