Our story
CENTRAL BROWN AFC
The club was formed in 1977 by a group of like mided guys who were playing indoor soccer.
Origin of the name:
Central because the team were located all over Whangarei and brown because the strip was that colour - Central Brown was born.
First Training:
The first training was held at the Harbour Board Ground which nowdays is the Distinction Hotel.
Our homes over the years:
In 1979 trainings were moved to Kensington Park, the clubrooms were in the old sheep pens built in the early 1920’s. This is also where the 1 Tonne Club was born. Inspired by the cold night trainings and was the brainchild of Stewert Moors.
The final move was in 1988 to where Central Brown resides now, Otaika Sports Park, known locally as ‘Blue Goose’.
