Ko Puanga te whetū i ārahi i ā Matariki ki te Tau Hou (Puanga is the star that guides Matariki to the New Year).

Puanga and Matariki is a time to encourage whanaungatanga, share stories and kai. It also marks the beginning of the Māori New Year, which traditionally was the time to plant trees, prepare the lands for planting crops and, more importantly, renew links with whānau and friends.

There are no local games this weekend, so enjoy this time with your family/whanau and friends, enjoy some kai and make some lasting memories.

Origin of the name:

Central because the team were located all over Whangarei and brown because the strip was that colour - Central Brown was born.
