MULTI-SPORTS FACILITY AT RUSSELL PARK

STAGE 1

PROJECTED COMPLETION DATE: ready for winter sports season 2018 (dependant on funding)

ESTIMATED COST: $1.7 Million (including contingencies)

CONFIRMED FUNDS TO DATE: $904,000 (7 March 2017)

PROJECT SPECS: 3 x Asphalt Full sized Netball courts, 1 x Full Sized (sand ‘dressed’) Artificial Hockey Turf with markings for 4 additional junior level netball courts. Lighting suitable for Club and Regional level competitions, Internal spectator fencing (1.2m) encompassing Hockey Field, all paths and spectator areas, high  external security fencing.  Also to be sourced are 2-3 shipping containers to be used in the interim for storage until Amenities building completed.

PROJECTED USAGE: 50,000 visits per year including players, officials, coaches, spectators etc of the following: Netball competition season, Hockey competition season,  Holiday programs, Inter-school competitions, school practices, club practices.  Rugby/Football trainings (when Russell Park grounds are closed). 

This is a conservative estimate and includes indicated visits only from already existing competitions/programs etc.  In addition to this there is definite opportunity to grow many mid week, social/inter business, or twilight competitions; regional tournaments or the introduction of new sports to the community eg. Futsal, renegade hockey.

The facility will be owned by the CHB District Community Trust and will be managed/operated by Aqua Management with a user pays system similar to the current indoor stadium.  Anyone will be able to use or book the facility just as they do now for the Stadium ALL YEAR ROUND. 

STAGE 2:  AMENITIES BUILDING

Building including: amenities, storage ‘sheds’ and meeting room/control room.

Plans have been drawn up, and plumbing/drainage/electrical preparations will be included in Stage 1 to future proof for the addition of a Building in the future.

No projected timeframe for this stage, the steering committee will move onto this part of the project once STAGE one is fully completed.  For the interim shipping containers will be used on site for storage purposes and portaloos leased.
