Farewell and Best Wishes to Kelly

We would like to take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate Kelly’s incredible contribution to MN.

Kelly first joined MN as Coach Lead around two and a half years ago and, in May 2024, stepped into the combined Coach and Umpire Lead role. Throughout her time with us, Kelly has brought unwavering energy, initiative, and passion to everything she’s done. Her leadership and dedication have made a lasting impact, not only within the MN Zone but also among the Zone Coach and Umpire Leads and the wider NNZ Community team.

Kelly will be greatly missed, both professionally and personally. Her commitment to the sport and her ability to inspire those around her have left a meaningful legacy.

From Kelly:
“Thank you for the work we’ve done together over the past couple of years. I’ve appreciated the opportunity to contribute to the growth of capability across the coach and umpire space in the Mainland Zone.”

As she embarks on a new direction, we wish her every success and happiness. We know that wherever life takes her, Netball will always hold a special place in her heart.

Thank you, Kelly, for everything.

2025 Mainland Advanced Camp – Players Announced written by Crystal Wilkinson

We’re excited to announce the athletes who have been selected to attend the 2025 Mainland Advanced Camp, taking place on Sunday, 14 September at the Selwyn Sports Centre, from 9:30am to 4:00pm.

Selection for the Advanced Camp follows a comprehensive talent identification process conducted throughout the season. Our 16 Centre Talent Spotters have observed players in their local competitions, while the Mainland Talent Spotting Panel reviewed performances at representative tournaments and the South Island Secondary Schools (SISS) event. We thank all involved for their time and expertise in identifying this exciting group of athletes.

The Advanced Camp will include:

  • Fitness testing
  • Skills development
  • Game play
  • Workshops
  • A special guest speaker (to be confirmed)

From this group, 15 athletes will be selected to attend the National Development Camp (NDC), run by Netball New Zealand, and move forward into the NNZ Performance Pathway.

All selected players should now have received their official invitation and registration details via email.

We extend our congratulations to the following athletes: https://mainlandnetball.co.nz/mainland/pathways/advanced-camp.html

We look forward to seeing you at camp and supporting your continued growth on the netball pathway.

Celebrating Umpire Appointments - 2025
NetballSmart Netball NZ Open Champs and NZ Secondary Schools Netball Champs written by Netball NZ

We are very proud to share that the following umpires have been appointed from Mainland for 2025 NetballSmart Netball NZ Open Champs & NZ Secondary Schools Netball. Kate Fraser, Rebecca Reside, Jamie Smith, Amanda Harris, Niamh Galligan (Christchurch Netball). Congratulations to you and all the umpires selected.

Twenty umpires have been appointed to the NetballSmart Netball NZ Open Champs, and 16 umpires to the NZ Secondary Schools Netball Champs, reflecting the depth of talent within our national umpiring pathway.

“These events are highlights on our domestic calendar, both for the competition on court and the opportunities they provide for our umpires,” said NNZ National Technical Officials Manager Josh Bowring. “For umpires, they are four days full of growth, teamwork, and learning, alongside the chance to put their skills to the test in high-pressure match environments.

We’re proud of the depth of officiating talent we have across Aotearoa and excited to see this group showcase their ability. Both groups will be strongly supported by our national squad coaches, making these tournaments a fantastic opportunity for development.”

No Limits Netball: Everyone belongs on the court

For many Kiwi kids, playing netball is a rite of passage, but disabled tamariki and rangatahi have often been left on the sidelines. No Limits Netball is changing all that.

Recognising the lack of opportunities for disabled young people, Netball New Zealand launched No Limits Netball with support from Sport NZ’s Disability Inclusion Fund. This programme is breaking down barriers and ensuring everyone has the opportunity to play.
