Ed. 2 - March 2026

Welcome to the Second Edition of the WBOP Whistle!

March has been a busy and exciting month for WBOP umpiring, and we are thrilled to welcome you to the second edition of the WBOP Whistle! As the season begins to take shape, Ruth and I have been busy planning for the season ahead and getting a number of exciting projects underway. Getting NNL umpire allocations on the way, preparations already building for the U18 tournament later this year, and connections being made with centres across the region, there is plenty happening behind the scenes. We are looking forward to what 2026 will bring and would love the opportunity to connect with even more of you — so if your centre would like a visit from either or both of us, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!

Celebrating Pam

After four years of dedicated service as the Umpire Lead for Netball WBOP Zone, we would like to acknowledge and thank Pam for the incredible contribution she has made to our umpiring community.

On the 7th of March, we had the opportunity to come together and celebrate Pam and the impact she has had during her time in this role. Throughout her tenure, Pam has been a true wealth of knowledge, generously sharing her expertise and supporting the growth and development of umpires and umpire coaches across the zone.

Pam has always been someone who encourages and uplifts those around her. Her passion for the game, commitment to developing others, and willingness to give her time and wisdom have made a lasting difference within our community.

As Pam steps away from this role, we thank her for the dedication, leadership, and care she has shown over the past four years. We wish her all the very best as she retires from this position and look forward to still seeing her around the courts.

Thank you, Pam, for everything you have given to Netball WBOP.

The refreshed Community Umpiring Guidelines are now available on the Netball New Zealand Website.

Check out some of the amazing learning opportunities that is available during the school holidays from a variety of centres in our zone. If you have something that you would want us to promote on your behalf, we are happy to add any events at your centre.

We’re really looking forward to an exciting and productive April! With the season continuing to build momentum, there is plenty happening both on and off the court, and the upcoming school holidays provide a fantastic opportunity to continue growing and developing as an umpire. It’s a great time to upskill, attend workshops, and build confidence ahead of a busy season, so we encourage you to get in touch with your local centre to see what opportunities are on offer. We love seeing the enthusiasm and commitment across our netball community, and we’re excited to see that continue as the season unfolds.
