Interclub Competition
Interclub is a weekly competition played in the Winter at the Manurewa Table Tennis Club stadium for players of all skill levels. Find your local Club >>>
Competition is played on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7:00pm - 10:00pm
An Interclub team consists of up to three players and there are five matches per night (4 singles and 1 doubles). All matches are the best of 5 games.
If a team presents with 3 players on the same night, each player must play 2 matches ie: one person plays two singles and the other two play 1 singles and 1 doubles.
Interclub is for players of all levels:
There is a separate competition for Wednesday players and for Thursday players.
CMTTA Interclub System 2025 (short version of new rules).
The CMTTA interclub competition 2025 will be played in a new format. The first round is scheduled to start in May 2025. After the first round feedback will be collected from all players and will be considered.
In a Nutshell the new interclub system from 2025 onwards is proposed to play according to the following rules:
There are 2 independent competitions
- The “Championship Leagues” (playing Wednesdays)
- The “Open League” (playing Thursdays
“Championship Leagues”
The Championship Leagues should be the preferred competition for all Table Tennis players in CMTTA. It is designed for all players:
- who can play on Wednesdays
- who want to compete with payers of other clubs on their skill level.
- no matter which skill level (even beginners).
All teams in the Championship Competition will be graded (for the first round by a committee, thereafter by promotion and relegation). Grading will be implemented by different leagues.
Each league contains 6 teams but not more than 11 teams. The top teams play in the Premier League, teams ranked below the Premier League play in the Major League, teams ranked below the Major League play in the third highest league, and so on.
The number of leagues is obviously depending on the number of teams nominated by the clubs. Every new team has to start in the lowest league.
Clubs should encourage their players to play in the Championship Leagues if they are able to play Wednesdays!!!!!!
“Open League”
The Open League is designed for all players:
- who cannot play on Wednesdays
- who (for whatever reason) do not want to play on Wednesdays
- who play on Wednesdays and are keen to play a second interclub night per week on Thurswdays.
All teams in the Open League will be playing in one league, unless the number of teams nominated by the clubs for the Open League exceeds 11. If the number of teams exceeds 11, the teams will be grouped in leagues of not less than 6 teams with a regrouping after each round so that each team can play as many different other teams as possible. Teams are not graded and there is no promotion and relegation process.
The leagues in the Open League are not graded or ranked relating to the Championship Competition. This is because the same players who play in the Championship Leagues can play in the Open League as well which makes comparison between the 2 competitions meaningless. The 2 competitions are Independent!!!!!
