On the 4th of November, local Janine Southby was announced as being appointed to coach the Silver Ferns for the next four years. She is just the 10th coach of the Silver Ferns, and the second one from Dunedin!!!
Janine has been a strong contributor to netball in the South Zone, Otago, and in particular Dunedin. In the early days of her coaching career she coached Columba College and in 2006-2007 the Otago Rebels. Since 2012 she has been the coach of the Southern Steel. In 2015 in particular, Janine assisted with the Dunedin Netball Youth Representative programmes.
Nationally Janine coached the NZ U21 team from 2010-2013. In 2013 this team won the Netball Youth World Cup. She also coached the NZ Fast5 Ferns to titles in 2013 and 2014.
Janine has worked incredibly hard to become a high performing coach, the Dunedin Netball community are very proud of her!!!
