Umpire Workshop Dates 2026 *2026 Workshops still TBC**

A range of upcoming workshops are being offered, aiming to enhance umpiring skills.  Please follow the link below for information, and to register. 

To attend Umpiring Courses, please follow this Click here on the Selwyn Netball Centre. You are welcome to attend as many courses as you like.

Junior Umpire participants are strongly encouraged to attend both Jr Workshop #1 & #2 as they are different.

What to do when you're an umpire at SNC:


  1. Go to the umpires room and obtain a Selwyn Netball vest or jacket to wear while umpiring
  2. If you are unsure of your court, check the draw to see where you are umpiring.
  3. Go to your court 5-10 minutes before the game is due to start to meet your “partner” umpire, check the court and the players.
  4. Umpire the game.  If there is any sideline trouble stop the game, take time and come to the office for help.
  5. Take your vest or jacket back to the umpires room.
  6. Ask any of us in the pavilion any questions to make sure your increased knowledge allows you to enjoy your umpiring.

Learning to Umpire Test

It is recommended that all Year 9 players and anyone new to playing at Selwyn complete the online Learning to Umpire Test This test is on the Netball NZ online learning site Sports Tutor and can be accessed via the NNZ website. It is also a handy refresh of the netball rules for umpires.
