Pathway to NISJ Champs
Every year in January, Cambridge Pony Club runs the North Island Show Jumping (NISJ) Championship.  Franklin District Pony Club (FDPC) has sent a team each year to this event in the past.

FDPC Trial for NISJ Champs
FDPC will run a single trial in November  to select a Training Squad from which the final FDPC Team for the Cambridge NISJ will be selected. The trial will be held in association with Coles Day, the club’s show jumping competition day.

Entry for the trial is by qualification only on an official FDPC entry form that will be sent out before the trial date. In order to enter the trial, the rider/combination must have completed the “5 rally rule” plus provide proof of the rider/combination’s ability to perform at the required level of competition (Juniors 90cm and above; Intermediates 100cm and above; Seniors 105cm and above) or higher in the previous 12 months to the date of the trial at any Pony Club, ESNZ, A&P event involving show jumping.
Riders must be financial members of their Branch which in turn must have paid its levies to District , Area and NZPCA

FDPC NISJ Training Squad
The FDPC NISJ Training Squad will consist of up to four riders 13 years and under (junior), up to four riders 14 years and under 17 years (intermediate) and up to four riders 17 years and under 21 years (senior). The top junior, intermediate and senior combinations at the trial will be selected for the FDPC NISJ Training Squad, a maximum of 4 combinations per age group. These squad members will then be required to attend a number of squad training sessions before the Cambridge NISJ Championships at which they will receive additional coaching from the FDPC Specialist Show Jumping Coach

FDPC NISJ Team Selection
A selection panel for the Cambridge NISJ team will be nominated by the District Commissioner and approved by the FDPC Delegates Committee prior to the date for the trial. This selection committee will consist of no more than 4 members including the FDPC Specialist Show Jumping Coach with the chair having a casting vote. Selection for the eventual FDPC NISJ Team will made in December and will be based upon but not excessively upon, performance at the trial and during squad training sessions.  The final FDPC NISJ Team will consists of two riders 13 years and under (junior), two riders 14 years and under 16 years (intermediate) and two riders 17 years and under 21 years (senior).
