18 Feb 2018

Hi to all athletes, parents and volunteers

Welcome back to the second half of the athletics season, if you are new to our club, a big welcome to you and we hope you enjoy your season with us.  Thank you to everyone who assisted with the season so far.  Just a reminder that the club is run by parents for their kids, so you are expected to get involved and help where and when you can, this also means that you are to remain at club night at all times with your child/children – please do not drop off your children and return at the end of the night to collect them.

Club champs

We have 2 more regular club nights before club champs gets underway on the 5th of Feb.  This is run over 3 club nights – 5th, 12th and 19th of March (with 23rd March as a back up in the event of a rain off).  All athletes must be registered, paid up and have attended at least 2 club nights prior to the start of club champs to be eligible.  Athletes must also be in full club uniform for their results to count – club singlet with age flash sewn on and plain black shorts with only manufacturer’s logo – no other team shorts such as NRL etc.

Ribbon days

There is one ribbon day remaining, to be held by Paeroa club on 3rd March, 10am start.  The Triple Jumps Champs for ages 13 and 14 will also be included in the days programme.  Ribbon days are fun and free days to attend, check your club booklet for more info or speak to a committee member.

Waikato BoP Childrens Champs

This is a 1 day meeting on 17th March, to be held at Tauranga Domain (provided the track is ready), start time is 9.30am.  Entries are now open with entry forms available on our website. Entries and fees need to be with our club secretary – Emma Bridge by 5th March.  Please speak with one of the committee if you would like to know more. http://www.sporty.co.nz/franktonjuniors/Documents?em=1

Athletics New Zealand National Track and Field Champs – Porritt Stadium 9, 10 & 11 March

Hamilton is again hosting this awesome event where some of New Zealand’s top athletes as well as some of our local up coming athletes will compete.  Again the Childrens clubs of Waikato and Bay of Plenty have been asked to man the gates and sell programmes, the Waibop Childrens committee in turn receive a percentage of the gate takings with will go towards the costs of the Interprovincial Games for 12 & 13 yr olds.  Frankton will be asked to play their part, we will be asking for volunteers to assist so please put your hand up – even if only for a couple of hours.

Prizegiving

23rd Mar - 4, 5, 6 year olds at Bremworth park – a fun night followed by certificates and a sausage for all

9 Apr – 7-14 yr olds, St Columbus School, 5.30.  Shared dinner, followed by club AGM then prizegiving.

Please give some thought to being a part of the committee and keeping our club alive.  Several current committee members are stepping down, so we really need some new people to take on some roles.

If you have paid your club fees, don’t forget to collect a pack for each child from the clubrooms on clubnight.  This contains:

  • child’s age flash for the year ( age is as at 31 Dec 2017), this needs to be sewn to their club singlet and be worn to all clubnights, ribbon days and other events, together with plain black shorts above the knee.
  • club booklet with rules, club dates, ribbon day dates and info, information on other events on the calendar and a personal record for your child to write their results in.
  • code of conduct for both parents/caregivers/supporters and children.  Please read through this with your child, sign and return to the clubrooms on clubnight.

Please take the time to look at our website and like our Facebook page for up to date information.

See you at clubnight.

Michelle and the committee.
