COVID-19 Club Operational Procedures

Kia ora whānau,

In light of recent event, the club has put in some procedures to ensure the health and safety of us all.  Please do take some time to go through the information provided.

The following procedures must be adhered to by all paddlers/club members, visitors, parents/guardians when on-site at either the Porirua or Otaki club locations.  No exceptions will be made, so please do take some time to review and understand the procedures to ensures the safety of all.

  • Contact Tracing, To help keep our members and families safe, we ask that you sign the contact tracing form provided on-site or via NZ covid tracer app.  QR codes will be listed onsite.  NOTE: The covid app allows manual entries as well, so you can do this in your car prior to going on site.
    .  This will help us respond to any issues quickly and effectively when something is raised.  Responsibility will be on the managers, coaches and team skippers to ensure this is completed by ALL persons paddling, or on-site.
  • If you are feeling unwell, then please stay home.  Some info found here, should you have any concerns.  
  • Bookings, must be made officially via the booking contacts for either site.  We are now asking for all persons intending to fulfil the seats to be named on the booking form. 
  • Straight in, Straight Out policy has been relaxed, but common sense should be applied eg. limit overcrowding areas for periods of time. 
  • Clean equipment with disinfectant before and after use
    • Life Jacks and Paddles spray before and after use. 
    • Personal equipment, cleaning equipment is only supplied for club gear, members with personal equipment need to supply their own.
  • Club Container, 1 person at a time

KEY MESSAGE;

  • Regular disinfecting of surfaces.
  • Encouraging good hand hygiene by allowing frequent hand washing with soap and water before thoroughly drying them.
  • Not having unwell people at our sites.
  • Meeting physical distancing requirements.

As always, safety on the water is a priority.

  • Check conditions before going out
  • Tell someone where you are going, and what time you intend to be back
  • Carry a life Jack
  • Carry a spare paddle
  • Carry a bailer
  • Safety bags are also provided for your use.  These bags have flares and emergency beacons
  • Paddle within you skill set. Don't paddle in conditions, or to an area you are not familiar with.

The club will provide disinfectant and hand wash at our sites.  This ensures, and is in line with ministry of health requirements, we have a safe environment for our members to continue to participate in Waka Ama.
