The final one! After a tough battle last weekend against league champions Ferrymead Bays, where the girls narrowly went down 3-2, we head into our final fixture of the season determined to finish on a high.
Despite the result, last weekend once again showed the fight, character, and quality within this group. The girls have continued to prove that they can compete with the best, and now we have one final opportunity to put everything on the line and finish the season with a strong performance and three points.
The team had a great training session on Monday, with plenty of energy and excitement around the group. Then came some awesome news on Thursday regarding plans for next season, adding even more excitement as we head into the final game. It’s a great reflection of the direction this group and the wider women’s space at Halswell are heading.
For those continuing on and preparing for the U19s tournament in October, the hard work and dedication doesn’t stop here. There’s plenty more to look forward to, and the foundations we’ve built this season will continue to grow.
I also want to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to Halswell United, our supporters, and everyone who has got behind the girls throughout the season. The support we’ve received each week has been a huge step in the right direction and has shown just how important this group is to the club and what we can build together moving forward.
I’m incredibly proud of what the girls have achieved, particularly the way they’ve adapted, grown, and continued to push through the challenges we’ve faced during the second half of the season. The progress has been clear, and this is only the beginning.
My message to everyone involved in the women’s space at Halswell remains the same:
