Responding the Right Way
Last weekend’s 5-4 loss to Selwyn was a frustrating result and one that left us with mixed emotions. We were disappointed with our attitude and actions in the first half, and we know we fell below the standards we’ve set for ourselves as a group.
However, the response after halftime showed exactly what this team is capable of. The girls displayed tremendous character, determination, and belief, producing an outstanding second-half performance that saw us fight our way back into the contest and come agonisingly close to earning a result. That resilience is something we can take plenty of confidence from.
Preparation this week has been far from ideal, with a number of players unavailable through illness and injury. Despite those challenges, the squad has remained positive, worked hard, and stayed committed to improving together.
This weekend we take on NW United at The Nest, and our focus is simple: bring the same intensity, commitment, and togetherness that we showed in the second half against Selwyn from the very first whistle. If we can match that attitude for the full 90 minutes, while sticking to our principles and playing our football, we’ll give ourselves every opportunity to come away with a positive result.
We know the challenge ahead, but we also know what this group is capable of when everyone works for one another. We’re looking forward to the opportunity to put in a complete performance.
