Kia ora koutou,

What we do at Horowhenua College is grow successful young men and young women.  Sport plays an important part in achieving this.  As well as the obvious health benefits (both physical and mental) that come with participating in sport, students also develop specific life skills and learn what it takes to be part of a team. We encourage all of our students to participate in any sport /physical activity whilst here at Horowhenua College.

Horowhenua College has a proud sporting history dating all the way back to when the school was founded in 1940. We offer a wide range of sporting opportunities which range from your traditional sports such as football, rugby, hockey, netball and basketball but we are not just limited to those. We have a fantastic canoe polo team, waka ama team, swim team, badminton team, golf team, chess team, mountain biking team and much much more.

When it comes to sport at Horowhenua College, nothing is off limits! We understand that every student who walks through our doors has completely different wants and needs and sport is no different.  If we currently do not have a team available, that doesn’t mean we can’t form one. Each year we get different requests and questions and the answer is always YES! To set a new team up we do need support and if you can work with us, it's amazing how quickly things can develop! With the wide range of sports available we are dependent on parents/caregivers/whanau/teachers to coach and manage which enables our students to participate. Thank you very much to the parents and teachers who give of their time and experience to fill these roles.  It is greatly appreciated.  If any other parents.caregivers or whanau would like to get involved, we are keen to hear from you so please get in touch with Director of Sport Mr Good.

To all involved in sport, I wish you all the best and thank you for your continued support.
