Thank you for your interest in our 2025 Fishing Competition. 

Early Bird Prices are valid until end of day 31st December 2024.

Your ticket number is in your confirmation email it start with SP#######, please check your junk as this will be sent as soon as you register.

Rules

PLEASE ENSURE YOU READ THESE INSTRUCTIONs

Rules:

  • All prize winners must be present to claim prize(s) – NO agents
  • Only 1 fish to be weighed in per angler in each category
  • Only 1 crayfish (Rock Lobster, Packhorse or Spanish) to be weighed in per angler
  • All fish weighed in become property of Leamington Rugby Sports Club
  • All fish must comply with Fisheries New Zealand fishing rules
  • All fish must be caught on rod or hand line with no more than 3 hooks
  • All fish must be weighed in as gutted and gilled
  • In the event of any dispute, the decision of the contest committee will be final
  • No frozen fish
  • Alcohol is not to be bought into the clubrooms or fields
  • The use of set lines is prohibited – automatic disqualification
  • All anglers on boats must be entered in the contest, if not, automatic disqualification for all on contest entries boat
  • The organisers reserve the right to use any submitted photos for promotional purposes
  • ​​​​​​​All entries weighed in by a child ticket must be caught unaided by the child entered

Leamington Rugby Sports Club accepts no liability for any loss or damage to any person or property as a result of entering this competition. All skippers are responsible for the safety of their crew members at all times by supplying the correct safety equipment i.e. life jackets, VHF, cell phones and flares. Check the marine weather forecast before venturing out.

General Information

Fishing

  • Starts Friday 12:01am (midnight) 7th February 2025 until Sunday the 9th February cut off is 4.00pm if you are not in line by 4.00pm you cannot weigh.
  • You can fish anywhere by boat, kayak, jet ski or from the beach and remember set lines are prohibited.
  • Child Ticket is for a child under 13 as at the fishing competition start date and time.
  • All entries weighed in under childs ticket must be caught unaided by the child who is entered.


Weigh In

  • Starts at 2.00pm and finishes at 4.00pm Sunday 9th February 2025 at the Leamington Rugby Ground Club Rooms, Carlyle Street, Leamington.
  • All fish must be weighed in as gutted and gilled and you need to be in the line by 4.00pm for your catch to be weighed.
  • Separate fish must be weighed for Heaviest Snapper and Mystery Weight Snapper. 
  • Once fish are weighed in they become property of Leamington Rugby Sports Club and will be auctioned off.


Fish Auction

  • To be held 4.30pm Sunday 9th February 2025 with all welcome. 
  • All fish and crays weighed in will be auctioned off with all funds going to Kids in Need Waikato.
  • Fish Category prize winners DO need to be present to claim their prize.


Categories:

Snapper, Kingfish, Kahawai, Gurnard, Crayfish and Mystery Weight Snapper.


Please remember to stay safe out there. Check the forecast before you leave and have the right safety equipment on board.

Kids Spot Prizes

From 4.00pm Sunday 9th February 2025. Different categories to choose from will be drawn from a bucket donated by local businesses. 


Adults Spot Prizes

From 4.00pm Sunday 9th February 2025. 


Refreshments & Entertainment

Roast buns, snacks and bar facilities are available at prize giving with both non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks available to purchase.



Prize Giving

  1. Kids: Kahawai, Gurnard, Kingfish and then Snapper 1st to 3rd prizes

  2. Mystery Weight Snapper

  3. Best Family Photo

  4. Heaviest Crayfish

  5. Adults: Kahawai, Gurnard, Kingfish and then Snapper 1st to 3rd prizes

Fish category prize winners DO need to be present to claim their prize.


Mystery Weight Snapper

Weight to be randomly chosen by Random.Org. The fish entered must be different to that weighed in for Heaviest Snapper.

The closest weight will win and if there are multiple then these will be drawn from a hat.


Best Group/Family Photo

All entries must be received by 4.00pm Sunday on either the Leamington Fishing Facebook page or emailed to leamingtonfishing@gmail.com

Major Prize Draws

One early bird draw for tickets purchased 31st December 2024 or prior. Kids and Adults will be mixed together with one entry per ticket purchased.

All other major prizes will be drawn with all tickets purchased mixed together (kids and adults).

Once your number has been drawn it will not be re added to the bucket. Must be present to receive these prizes no substitution and the person named on the ticket must be present.
