President’s Welcome
It is my pleasure and privilege to welcome everyone to another season at the Leeston Bowling Club.
Last season was a fantastic year for our club, with great success both on and off the green. Our members represented the club with distinction, with several players selected for representative teams and competing successfully at a range of levels. We also enjoyed some outstanding results across our club competitions and representative events.
Among several highlights of last season was being awarded the Bowls Canterbury Club of the Year, recognition that reflects the hard work and commitment of our members and volunteers. We were also incredibly proud to see our greenkeeper, Alan Jones, recognised as Volunteer of the Year at the Canterbury Sports Awards this award was thoroughly deserved. Allan’s dedication to maintaining our greens and supporting the club is greatly appreciated and we look forward to another season of being spoilt with one of the best greens going!!
Off the green, the club continued to play an important role in the wider bowls community. We were proud to host interclub competitions, Bowls Canterbury centre events and four days of national events. These occasions provided a great opportunity to showcase our club, our facilities and, most importantly, the hospitality and friendliness that Leeston Bowling Club is known for.
As I take on the role of President, I am very proud to be leading a club with such a strong history, passionate members a supportive Committee and a great team of volunteers. While last season set a very high standard, I am looking forward to building on that success and continuing to make Leeston Bowling Club a welcoming, competitive and enjoyable place for everyone.
I would like to thank all of our members, volunteers, committee members and supporters for the contribution they make to our club. Whether you are competing at the highest level, enjoying a social roll-up, helping around the club or simply coming along to support others, every contribution is important.
I wish all our new and returning members a successful and enjoyable season. Let’s get out on the greens, support one another, enjoy our bowls and, most importantly, have a bit of fun along the way.
