2026 Trials for Years 7-8

Year 1-6 players do not trial.

Any year 7 to year 8 netball players wanting to join a Mangawhai Netball Team are requested to attend the junior trials.

Trials allow independant selectors and committee members to fairly grade and form teams.

Trials are closed to spectators please.

Where: Mangawhai Beach School GYM

When:  

Thursday 5th March: 3-4pm

Thursday 12th March: 3-4pm

Players - please ensure you have appropriate clothes and shoes to play in and a water bottle is essential.

Ensure your NAILS are cut, JEWELLERY is removed and HAIR is tied back BEFORE ENTERING THE GYM.

TOP TIP... remember selectors and officials are watching you on and off the court. Here at MNC we don't just value skill and aptitude we foster fun, sportsmanship, effort and attitude too. Bring your best self to trials! 

FAQs...

- Attending both trials is recommended, but it's ok if you can only attend one.

- You do not have to be a student at Mangawhai Beach School to play for Mangawhai Netball Club

- No experience necessary, you don't have to have played before

- You may or may not have a preferred position you want to trial for, that's OK, you may have a preference for D, A or MidCourt or just anything.

- All players will get game time at their registered preferred positions however it is likely you will be asked to take the court in a variety of positions. Our Advice... make the most of every opportunity you get to take the court.

- The position you trial for is not the only position you will play throughout the season, this will be determined by your coach.

- You must register before the closing date - if you do not register you will not be named in a team.

- Teams will be named once registrations have closed.


MNC Trial and Selection Policy

To select the best possible team of players of a similar skill level.

TRIALS:

  • Two separate trials will be held.
  • A third trial may be held, if necessary.  In the event of a third trial all players will be notified by the Club.
  • All players are to attend a minimum of one trial BUT two is preferable.
  • A player must give the committee notice if they cannot attend a trial for any reason.
  • Players must be registered and paid members before they will be named in a team.

SELECTORS:

  • Team selections are to be carried out by 3 selectors including at least 1 independent selector as nominated by the Executive committee. The selector(s) team suggestions will be reviewed by the committee, and coaching officials where possible, before teams are named.
  • Team selection is to be finalised within one week of the final trial date where possible.
  • The selectors' decision is final. 
  • No discussion will be entered into.
