CODE OF CONDUCT
As a member of the Mercer Rowing Club I agree to:
- Take pride in our club, always leaving the club clean and tidy. I will pick up rubbish and do my part to keep the club/campsite clean and tidy.
- Respect all club members, officials, supporters and opponents.
As a Rower or Coxswain I will:
- Take all reasonable care of boats, equipment and facilities. (Report any damage to your coach.)
- Make sure I am on time for training and regattas – a whole crew is depending on me. If I cannot make a training / regatta, I will inform my manager.
- Respect my coach’s decisions regarding crew selection.
- Not run or fool around in the boatshed or around boats. (At the club and at regattas.)
- Not go on the water without a coach if I am a school rower.
- Represent Mercer Rowing Club with pride, dignity, honesty and loyalty.
- Not consume alcohol, illegal drugs or banned performance enhancing substances.
- Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat.
- Display positive sportsmanship for all squad achievements.
- Abide by the Code of Conduct when using all forms of Social Media.
- Try my hardest and never give up!!
As a Coach I will:
- Develop a positive and rewarding squad culture.
- Ensure that equipment and facilities meet safety standards.
- Display positive sportsmanship and acknowledge all rowers achievements.
- Be a positive role model.
- Provide regular feedback to my squad, either one on one or in squad debriefs.
- Encourage independence but take responsibility for my squad’s behavior and performance.
- Be honest and fair with all crew selections.
As a Supporter I will:
- Support my rower(s) by ensuring they attend all trainings and regattas where possible.
- Display a positive attitude and be a role model for our rowers.
- Applaud efforts from all crews.
- Ask questions if I do not know.
- Become involved in the club – many hands make light work!
