  • Onewhero Area School
  • Waiuku College
  • St Ignatius of Loyola Catholic College
  • Pukekohe Christian School

Our five week Learn to Row programme is held at the start of Term 3, giving students a chance to try rowing before registering.

The rowing season runs from September to March or April (depending on the timing of the final regatta for the season), and is divided into the Club season and the School season.

Club Season
The first part of the rowing season is the Club season, and all our rowers compete as Mercer Rowing Club. The Club regattas run from October through to early February. Anyone in their first year of rowing is a Novice - no matter their age group.

School Season

School regattas continue to late March / early February. The rower’s age on the first day of January determines the age group they are eligible to row in for the season. There are four age groups within rowing: under 15, under 16, under 17 and under 18. Rowers will typically race in their age group and occasionally in the year above, depending on regatta, especially at the under 15 level.

The school season does not allow for composite teams, so boats need to be made up of students from the same school (including the coxswain).

A calendar of events will be emailed to all families at the beginning of the season.
