COMMODORE'S MESSAGE
Welcome to the Mercury Bay Boating Club 2022/23 season. Leaving the pandemic in our rear view mirror, we are looking forward to a fantastic season. The keel boat racing schedule is packed with near shore, coastal and offshore options. With our 6-boat fleet of double-handed Fusions and robust Hobie Cat fleet, centreboard/catamaran racing is poised to be sensational for junior, teen and adult sailors. The Learn to Sail training courses – again for beginner and advanced sailors of all ages – are underway in Term 4, with summer courses about to be announced. Our race management team are also looking at which regional and national regattas the club might run – after last season’s Covid Relief Package catamaran regatta, and the Elliott 5.9 Traveller Series regatta. Do you have some time and a skill you would like to share? The club always needs volunteers to help with Junior Sailing, club social events, regatta management and more. This year, we have the additional challenge of a hungry sea chewing towards our club. Solutions will be found, but with help from all quarters of our membership. A relatively rural club like ours is only as strong as the members and supporters who champion it. Thank you to all of you who gave so freely of your time, expertise and passion last year and welcome to all of you who would like to be part of the magic this year. Live Long, Sail Hard.
