Fletcher Smith re-joins Waikato for the 2021 Bunnings Warehouse NPC Season.


Waikato continues to bolster their squad a head of the 2021 Bunnings Warehouse National Provincial Championship, with the announcement that Fletcher Smith has re-joined the province for the upcoming season.

Smith, 26, signed for Waikato back in 2018 making the move from Otago. In that season, Smith, helped Waikato gain promotion back into the Premiership division. During that season, Smith, played all 12 games scoring a total of 130 points, he was also named as one of the finalists for the Duane Monkley Medal.

Since 2018, Smith, has gone on to make 30 appearances for Waikato scoring a total of 245 points to date by the way of 5 tries, 86 conversions, 15 penalties and 1 drop goal.

Waikato Head Coach, Ross Filipo said “We are very grateful to have Fletcher Smith re-join the province for our upcoming 2021 NPC campaign.

Fletcher has played a pivotal role for the team for several seasons. He is another one of our experienced hardworking leaders in the squad, helping to guide our up-and-coming talent.”

Fletcher Smith, recently returned to the province after a stint in Japan playing for the NTT Com Shining Arcs in the Japanese Top League competition.
