NBHS – Sports Code of Conduct


APPLIES TO ALL CODES AND TEAMS

Official Rule in the NBHS rule book, sanctioned by the NBHS Board of Trustees 2013

In order to represent NBHS in any co-curricular activity at ANY level, the following criteria must be met:


Senior Students (y11 to y13)            80% attendance (unless with a valid medical certificate)

Senior Students (y11 to y13)            100% NCEA internal assessment work completed


Junior Students (y9 to 10)                80% attendance

Junior Students (y9 to 10)                Level of pastoral discipline not to exceed Deans 4.

(This also includes NCHS students).


NBHS – Sports Rules for participating students

Members of Napier Boys’ High School sporting teams and trips are required to:

  1. Abide by all normal school rules as set out in the Napier Boy’s High School Handbook.
  2. Maintain a satisfactory attendance record and the required standard of academic work in accordance with the Sport Code of Conduct ruling 2013 outlined above.
  3. Follow directions of the Teacher in charge and or Coach with particular regard to dress, playing gear, punctuality and courtesy.
  4. Play their sport to the best of their ability with particular regard to fair play and sportsmanship.
  5. If away on a sports trip, students must show courtesy and respect for the host school and billet family. Advise your billet of the times you are required to be at school and be helpful about the house.
  6. If away on a sports trip, students must show courtesy and respect if staying at an accommodation establishment.  Any breakages or damage to any property will result in full payment by the student and disciplinary action may follow.
  7. Consumption of alcohol, cigarettes or drugs is not permitted on school trips or while rpresenting NHS at any time.  It is against school rules and is not compatible with a good cultural or sporting performance.
  8. Any bullying or initiation practices will not be tolerated and will result in those responsible being banned from representing NBHS in the future.
  9. Advise your coach and/or Teacher in charge of any illnesses, injury or any other issues with your health or wellbeing.
