Our History

The Fulton Hogan Basketball League was established in 2006 in Nelson, primarily, but not exclusively, for players with supported learning needs.

We quickly realised that there was a demand for more activities and in 2011, the Inclusive Sport Trust was established as a Charitable Trust to provide governance of the Fulton Hogan Basketball League and to develop more opportunities in sport for people with supported learning needs.

When the FH Basketball League started we had 8 teams in two grades but we now have around 14 teams playing basketball on a weekly basis, in terms 2 and 3, at Saxton Stadium. We are proudly affiliated to Nelson Basketball and Basketball New Zealand.

Our Programmes

The Trust now offers many sporting opportunities including; our Fulton Hogan Basketball League, Active8Kids Junior Sport programme, Junior Jammers Basketball, Multi-sports programmes for young adults, a SportZone programme which includes Hook in to Hockey, in association with Nelson Hockey and Mighty Hoops Basketball, in association with Nelson Basketball.

We also encourage participation in community events such as the Beach Clean-up and Daffodil Day.
