RIDING GEAR
Important notice concerning Helmets
Chapter 8 of the MNZ Manual of Motorcycle Sport sets out the requirements for the Steward to check safety gear at all events.
- Helmet checks are mandatory and will be carried out by the Steward or their appointee at all events
- Helmets without appropriate Standard marking as listed in Chapter 8 will be rejected
- Any helmet not up to Chapter 8 standard and condition will be rejected
- ECE 22-05R and Snell 2010 are acceptable although not listed in Chapter 8
- No Helmet mounted cameras may be used as mounts point load the helmet and it will not protect you

Specific Riding Gear Includes, but is not limited to:
- Helmets Commercially available type - well fitting, undamaged, to Safety Standard, under 10 years old.
- Boots For speed events, boots must be well constructed and not less than 25cm from the inner sole to the top of the boot. For non-speed events such as Trials and Gymkhanas: rubber reinforced safety boots (fireman’s type) with steel reinforcing in the sole are an option. For Mini Motocross, a motocross boot is recommended, but a sturdy leather or gumboot (at least 200mm high) is acceptable.
- Body Armour Commercially available type with the rider / bike number on the rear.
- Gloves Commercially available type.
- Jersey Heavyweight cotton or similar type fabric with long sleeves. NO T SHIRTS AT ANY EVENT
- Trousers Long leather, nylon motocross, heavy worsted (e.g. ex army type).
- Goggles Always Recommended, but at the Stewards discretion.
- Knee Pads & Braces Recommended but at riders choice.
