RIDING GEAR
Important notice concerning Helmets
Chapter 8 of the MNZ Manual of Motorcycle Sport sets out the requirements for the Steward to check safety gear at all events.
Helmet checks are mandatory and will be carried out by the Steward or their appointee at all events
Helmets without appropriate Standard marking as listed in Chapter 8 will be rejected
Any helmet not up to Chapter 8 standard and condition will be rejected
ECE 22-05R and Snell 2010 are acceptable although not listed in Chapter 8
No Helmet mounted cameras may be used as mounts point load the helmet and it will not protect you
The protective gear that you ride in is for your own safety - Please remember that!

Specific Riding Gear Includes, but is not limited to:
- Helmets Commercially available type - well fitting, undamaged, to Safety Standard, under 10 years old.
- Boots For speed events, boots must be well constructed and not less than 25cm from the inner sole to the top of the boot. For non-speed events such as Trials and Gymkhanas: rubber reinforced safety boots (fireman’s type) with steel reinforcing in the sole are an option. For Mini Motocross, a motocross boot is recommended, but a sturdy leather or gumboot (at least 200mm high) is acceptable.
- Body Armour Commercially available type with the rider / bike number on the rear.
- Gloves Commercially available type.
- Jersey Heavyweight cotton or similar type fabric with long sleeves. NO T SHIRTS AT ANY EVENT
- Trousers Long leather, nylon motocross, heavy worsted (e.g. ex army type).
- Goggles Always Recommended, but at the Stewards discretion.
- Knee Pads & Braces Recommended but at riders choice.
